The Healthy Kids team, led by the program director Don Henderson, participated in a seminar that national policy makers billed as an innovative public/private partnership in child health. Joining Mr. Henderson were CDSA Director and Metro Commission Staff Director Dennis Poole, Healthy Kids Program Coordinator Carole Wade, and DHS supervisor Gloria Pauline.
The Forum, held in Washington, D.C., was sponsored by the United Cerebral Palsy Association. Healthy Kids was invited to present its findings because it demonstrates how much improvement in the lives of children can be made when a community works together.
The program was nominated for the national award by Mary Beth Hunt, Area Coordinator for Maternal Infant Health, Oklahoma Department of Health. The award is given every two years to exemplary programs in community health promotion.
